When Malian Scientific Excellence Is Celebrated at the Highest Level of Government

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Professors Abdoulaye Djimd\u00e9, Yakouba Toloba and Dinkorma T. Ouologuem were received by the Minister of Health and Social Development and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in recognition of the prestigious distinctions they have recently received.

The ceremony, attended by their colleagues, researchers, faculty members, students, and partners, was a meaningful tribute to those who work every day to advance Malian scientific research and enhance its international visibility.

Professor Abdoulaye Djimd\u00e9 was honored for receiving the Noguchi Prize for Medical Research in Africa and for his appointment to the United Nations Secretary General’s Scientific Advisory Board an exceptional recognition of his global scientific leadership.

Professor Yakouba Toloba was recognized for an award honoring his commitment and outstanding contribution to scientific excellence, reflecting the impact of his work in advancing research and improving health.

Professor Dinkorma T. Ouologuem was celebrated for receiving the Award of Excellence presented by the Inter-Order of Pharmacists during the 25th Pharmaceutical Forum, in recognition of her remarkable career and her dedication to advancing pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences in Africa.

In his address, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized that these distinctions go far beyond individual achievements. They embody the excellence of Malian science and demonstrate that, despite the challenges facing the country, Mali remains a land of talent, innovation and expertise capable of competing with the very best on the international stage.

The Minister of Health and Social Development also praised these researchers for proudly representing Mali around the world and reaffirmed the critical role of research, education and innovation in strengthening the national health system. He also congratulated the inaugural class of the Master’s program in Antimicrobial Resistance, highlighting the strategic importance of this new generation of experts in addressing one of the greatest public health challenges of our time.

This ceremony served as a powerful reminder that scientific research is a cornerstone of sustainable development. Every distinction earned by a Malian researcher is also a victory for academic institutions, research teams, students and the nation as a whole.
